Anti Ragging Committee

Ragging is acrime which destroys the physical and emotional confidence and led to anincrease in suicidal activities, defined as an act that violates or isperceived to violate an individual student's dignity.In 2009, UniversityGrants Commission (UGC) passed UGC REGULATION ON CURBING THE MENACEOF RAGGING IN HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS, framed to curb the menace ofragging, including strict pre-emptive measures, like lodging freshers in aseparate hostel. Students are requested to go through thoroughly and understandwhat constitutes ragging and what are the responsibilities of institution's andstudents' to prevent such incidents within the campus. Students and parentsboth are requested to give a necessary undertaking in the prescribed manner instrict compliance with the UGC regulations.

The Institute hasformed an antiragging committee to completely wipe out the menacefrom the campus making it ragging free campus and to prohibit anyconduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by anact which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness afresher or any other student, or indulging in rowdy or indisciplined activitiesby any student or students which causes or is likely to cause annoyance,hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in anyfresher or any other student or asking any student to do any act which suchstudent will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causingor generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adverselyaffect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student, with orwithout an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authorityor superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student. Andpreventing its occurrence and punishing those who indulge in ragging asprovided for in these Regulations and the appropriate law in force.
